MEASURE Evaluation–Strategic Information for South Africa (MEval-SIFSA) assists the South African Government to develop, pilot, implement, and evaluate e-Learning courses to strengthen capacity for use of routine health information systems (RHIS).

MEval-SIFSA assisted the DoH at national, provincial, and district levels to improve its efficiency and effectiveness by identifying data needs, understanding indicators and targets, improving data quality, analyzing data, and presenting and using information for decision/policy making to improve health outcomes.

Strengthening Routine Health Information Systems
In South Africa, the national Department of Health (DoH) has led the development of strategies and policies to standardize the management of information systems from the facility level up to the national level. MEASURE Evaluation–Strategic Information for South Africa (MEval-SIFSA) made significant contributions to this effort, as well as to the rollout of the District Health Management Information System (DHMIS) policy and its standard operating procedures (SOPs).
