Session I offers a brief introduction to data quality and two of the key data quality tools widely used but focuses mainly on how the data quality tools have been adapted and are being used in very different ways in Botswana and Tanzania to improve data quality and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) capacity.

This presentation describes how Botswana integrated data quality assurance into standard operating procedures by adapting the global routine data quality assessment tool to their country context. It explains the nature of the technical assistance provided to the Ministry of Health by MEASURE Evaluation and offers evidence of successful capacity building.
