MEASURE Evaluation Welcomes New Deputy Director
MEASURE Evaluation welcomes Dr. Jason B. Smith as deputy director for knowledge management, capacity building and data demand and use.
Dr. Smith comes to MEASURE Evaluation from Family Health International (FHI) where his most recent position was director of research utilization. In this capacity, he was responsible for leading FHI's efforts to translate research into practice and apply evidence-based approaches to improve health policy and programs world-wide. Dr. Smith's exceptional skill and experience in the structural, behavioral and communications aspects of research utilization will benefit the three areas under his purview at MEASURE Evaluation.
In addition to being a skilled research scientist with over 25 years of experience, Jason brings excellent management and leadership abilities. He has served on the management teams of several large-scale projects, with direct responsibility for strategy, staff and administration. In a career that spans three decades, Jason has accumulated site experience in over a dozen developing countries including Bangladesh, Egypt, Haiti, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Democratic Republic of Congo. He holds an academic appointment as adjunct senior lecturer at Columbia University and has an appointment as adjunct professor of Health Behavior and Health Education in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Public Health.
