On March 10, 2014 the RELACSIS network launched a virtual course on medical coding using ICD-10. Health system strengthening experts from Argentina and Mexico led the course design and development process to supply ICD-10 training. The course is an alternative to face-to-face teaching, and provides access to more countries. A total of fourteen countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region will benefit from the course. To achieve this result, RELACSIS worked in collaboration with the Mexican Center for Classification of Diseases, WHO Collaborating Centre for the Family of International Classifications, WHO in Mexico, and the Argentine Center for Classification of Diseases of Argentina. The course is hosted and available via the WHO/PAHO learning management system.
