Child Status Index Regional Training of Trainers Conference, Kenya, June 2010

The conference sessions will provide information on the training procedures of the CSI tool by an organization and/or national government’s lead trainers to train others on the CSI tool. This workshop will aim at making certain that CSI training is harmonized across programs and countries to ensure that the tool is properly implemented by all field users to collect and use credible, accurate, and quality data about children.

The Child Status Index (CSI) was developed in 2006/07 as a simple tool for assessing and monitoring the well-being of orphans and vulnerable children. This multidimensional and inexpensive way of collecting child outcome data has helped in providing a quick assessment of the program efforts towards making a measurable difference in children’s lives. Since the tool was developed it has been adapted and used in different countries and by several organizations to monitor child well-being. However, there has been no way or forum to ensure that those trained to use the tool are being trained in a standardized way. This workshop will bring together trainers and higher level service providers to give better understanding of the CSI tool from different contexts and provide the material necessary for the trainers to train others in proper use of the CSI tool.

The conference sessions will provide information on the training procedures for the CSI tool to lead trainers in organizations and/or national governments to train others on the CSI tool.
