Data Demand and Information Use Approach Abstract:

The MEASURE Evaluation–Strategic Information for South Africa Project (MEval-SIFSA) is helping the Department of Health at national, provincial, and district levels to identify data needs, improve data quality, better analyze data and use evidence for decision making. This fact sheet describes challenges the Department of Health and its partners face as they seek to improve the health care system. It outlines the data demand and information use approach that focuses on routine health information to generate better quality data that is more useful for policy makers and implementers. It addresses technical, organizational, and individual determinants that affect data demand and use.
