Costs and Results of Information Systems in Tanzania Abstract:

This 93-page report presents findings from a participatory assessment of the costs and results of information systems in Tanzania that were carried out in 2002 and 2003. Findings were based on cost and output data provided by 11 information systems in four government ministries, offices, and executive agencies. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews with system managers, and field visits. Results were assessed against a composite list of 38 health, demographic and poverty indicators. Finding were fed back to participants at a workshop, and revisions to the assessments were made. In this report, authors report findings in coverage of health and poverty indicators, comparative costs, and the relationship between cost, coverage, and quality assurance.
