Data Warehouse Webinar

Join MEASURE Evaluation on January 28 at 9 a.m. EST for this one-hour webinar: “Data Warehouse: Bridging Islands of Information Systems.” The webinar will be led by Sam Wambugu, Health Informatics Advisor, and Manish Kumar, Senior Technical Specialist for Health Systems Strengthening—both with the USAID-funded MEASURE Evaluation project.

A prevalent problem in the health sector is the difficulty of accessing sector-wide, complete, and integrated health information that satisfies decision-making requests. Paradoxically, a lot of data are collected but structural barriers inhibit their optimal use.

A national data warehouse is an integrated database that can be accessed easily. The data it collects can come from multiple sources: for example, community health workers, health facilities, medical records from hospitals and clinics, district reports, epidemiological surveillance reports, human resource records, and logistics reports on drugs and supplies.

Developing a health data warehouse is complex and time consuming but also essential to the delivery of high-quality health services. This webinar will discuss approaches, processes, and complexities of health data warehousing and will illustrate data-warehousing models suitable for integrating data from different sources. The webinar also offers a platform for participants to share experiences and resources useful in the development of health data warehouses.
