Demystifying Data

Join MEASURE Evaluation for a one-hour webinar on “Demystifying Disaggregated Data: Factors that affect collection and use of sex- and age-disaggregated data” on June 29 at 9:00am EDT. MEASURE Evaluation’s Abby Cannon, Carolina Mejia, and Jessica Fehringer will lead the webinar.

Gender-related data are critical to understanding how HIV/AIDS may impact different population groups and whether programs are meeting the unique needs of such groups. Sex- and age-disaggregated data, as well as gender-sensitive indicators that specifically measure gender equality, are important to efficient and effective use of limited resources. In order to better understand the barriers and facilitators to collecting, analyzing, and using sex- and age-disaggregated data, MEASURE Evaluation conducted two related studies at the national and subregional level in two countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

During this webinar, presenters will share the findings from (1) an exploration of barriers and facilitators according to national stakeholders and decision-makers, and (2) findings from gender-focused data quality assessments (RDQA) and related tool adaption at the subregional level in Kenya and Zambia. Lessons learned and recommendations will be shared on improving the ability to collect and report high-quality disaggregated data and key gender-sensitive indicators; and strengthening the capacity at the subnational level to use gender-related HIV data for program and policy decision making to accelerate progress towards an AIDS-free generation.
