Abstract:

The Transitions to Adulthood project examines adolescent sexual and reproductive behaviors in relation to their surrounding context, including educational and work opportunities, family, and environmental conditions. The study is designed to provide a better understanding of opportunities and risks that South African adolescents face in the context of already high and increasing HIV/AIDS prevalence. Data were collected on individual, household, and community levels in 2000 and 2001. This report had the primary objective of providing descriptive results for the second round of data collection of the community module of the Transitions study.
